Discipline & Anti –ragging Measures
Anti-ragging Measures:
- Government/University Anti-ragging guidelines are strictly implemented.
- College views at ragging as double crime and an act of indiscipline, violation of code of ethics and violation of human right and hence views it very seriously.
- At the time of admission/enrolment to the college/Institution/printed undertaking are filled by the candidates themselves in their own handwriting and duly signed by them endorsed by parents /Guardians / Caretakers etc. to the effect that he/she is aware of the institution/college, approach towards ragging and the punishments to which he/she shall be liable if found guilty to ragging.
- Anti ragging Committee has been formed to discuss the measures to be taken for prevention of ragging in any form.
- Anti Ragging Squad has been formed separately for Boys & Girls.
- Vigilance Committee has been formed with our teaching staff as its members who visit at different times of the day and night as per schedule given to them in the boys & girls hostel with special duty of surprise checks given to the Senior Faculty members.
- Mentoring cell has been formed with students’ council, some freshers, some old students as members.
- Pamphlets were distributed giving phone numbers of members of Antiragging committee so that any one can inform if he or she witnesses ragging been done.
- Under taking from students/ parents/ staff were taken that they will not indulge in any kind of ragging and will report if they witness any thing related to ragging.
- In the hostels the freshers are kept in separate blocks with special security arrangements.
- Boards, slogans, notices are pasted all over showing the punishment for ragging.
- The students are encouraged to confide forth with any ragging act Noticed/seen/experienced by them to the management/ principal/ administration/teaching staff/sub committees and college ensures the confidentiality of such a disclosure.
Ragging is banned in the Institution:
Those who indulge in such an act of ragging shall attract the punishment which includes
- Expulsion from Institution/College/Hostel/Mess
- Suspension from the Institution or classes
- Fine with a public apology.
- With holding scholarship or others benefits extended to those involved in ragging.
- Entering of ragging incident into Transfer Certificate of Migration Certificate which may seal the academic fate of students.
General Rules of Discipline
Students admitted to MGIMS are expected to
· Exhibit high standards of academic interest and responsible behavior, befitting professional level of maturity.
i) lead simple life
ii) wear khadi clothes
- take vegetarian meals
- eschew smoking, drinking and other intoxicants
- participate in community prayer, shramdan and such other activities as may be prescribed from time to time. Students must put their hair tidy when at work in the college and hospital.
- Residing in the hostels of the Institute is compulsory for all students.
- Students after admission to the Institute are given an Orientation Training Course for a fortnight in Sevagram Ashram for getting sensitized to Gandhian ideology.
- Attendance in the Social Service camp, whenever it is held is essential, failing which the student may not be allowed to appear in the University Exam.
- Students who do not maintain a satisfactory standard in academics or in the observance of code of conduct or discipline shall neither be allowed to hold office in extracurricular bodies or be eligible for scholarship or given any other assistance.
- Permission must be taken from the Officer incharge leaves for any leave or absence from classes or to go out of station. All students must report to the warden before leaving and on return from leave. In case of illness during leave a medical certificate must be sent immediately.
- All illness should be reported to the Warden at the earliest.
- Ragging in any form is absolutely forbidden and as per the provisions of Maharashtra Act XXXIII known as “Maharashtra Prohibition of ragging Act of 1999”, students indulging in ragging can be punished under the Act resulting in suspension, and even expulsion from the Institute and imprisonment.
- Aprons (extending to mid-thigh or below) are compulsory for boys and girls especially during dissection/practical/demonstration.
- Students riding vehicles without valid documents (regarding ownership of the vehicle and tax payments) are warned that the vehicles will be seized by the police. The parking should be made at proper place.
· A student is expected to attend all the scheduled classes. However, the minimum attendance requirement is not less than three fourth (75%) of the number of working periods in the subject. It is necessary to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in every theory and 80% in practical without which a student will not be allowed to take ensuing examination.
- Students are strongly discouraged from owning and riding motorcycles.
- Any student breaking or damaging any college property shall be required to pay the cost of repair or replacement.
- Dress should be neat and clean and well covered. Shorts, mini skirts, revealing/transparent dresses are NOT permitted.
- Girls with hair below the shoulders should have their hair tied up.
- Girls should not wear flowers or too many ornaments.
Environment and Internal Security
· College strives to enhance the collegiality on the campus by providing the environment conducive to Academic, Social and spiritual growth of the student.
- Providing supportive student amenities, greenery, pollution free environment, cleanliness, security are of paramount importance.
- Internal Security is looked after by Security officer and security personnel are posted everywhere including hostels.
- Regular upkeep of Gardens and Greenery.
- All the recommendations of national Commission for women are implemented and reviewed periodically in general for all ladies members in particular through the said committee.
- There are strict disciplinary guidelines pertaining to:
- Code of conduct/Behavior Raging
- Activities that tarnish the image of the college
- Activities that are anti-college and antisocial
