SERVICE

The Department of Anaesthesiology, equipped to provide anaesthesia to all sorts of cases, be it cardiac or neurosurgery or any other speciality. It is equipped with the latest and modern instruments to provide anaesthesia to at least 16-20 major surgeries and 30-40 minor surgeries performed every day in the hospital.

EDUCATION

The Department has an intake of 2 MD students  and one Diploma candidate each  year and both these are recognized by the Medical Council of India . The postgraduates of this institute are sent to NIMS Hyderabad for training for 2 months in cardiac anaesthesia.  The department is also involved in training undergraduate students. A total of 20 lectures are held for them by the faculty.

RESEARCH

The department is a key member of the Quality assurance cell of the NRHM project. The LSAS training programme for medical officers in grooming their anaesthetic skills for obstetric anaesthesia in periphery in being conducted by the department and two batches have successfully completed their training and have been certified by the department.

The Department encourages its postgraduate students to attend seminars, conferences and workshops. It has a vision in the near future to expand its frontiers into the field of critical care and rechristen its name to the Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical care.
