The Students’ Council was formed in June 2007 with a great deal of enthusiasm.

Cultural Activities:
Cultural activities were organized by students like every year with great enthusiasm and festive fervour. This year the institute welcomed its new students (2008 batch) with a welcome party called ‘Caution 2008 Volts’ on 21 Aug 2008. Instead of making the new students introduce themselves individually, they performed as various groups according to a theme given to them. It encouraged even shy newcomers to come on stage with confidence. Senior students also participated along with them. Faculty and students liked the idea very much. Ganesh festival was a grand affair and was celebrated from 3-6 Sep 2008. The artists of 2005 and 2008 batch prepared very beautiful ‘pooja pandal’ according to the tradition of Maharashtra.

The annual social gathering- Synapse-09, started with traditional Saraswati Pooja. . The art gallery aptly named ‘Tulika’ was inaugurated by Shri Dhirubhai Mehta, President KHS on 18 Feb 2009 as the first event of annual cultural meet. The dedicated student artists of the institute chose the theme ‘Indian Painting’ this time and created hundreds of fine paintings of all forms in less than one month’s time. Different Indian forms used by them were water and oil on canvas, glass painting, sketching, Madhubani art, ceramic work on pots, thermocol painting, egg shell painting, rangoli on paper sheet. A graffiti wall was put which was open to all visitors of art gallery to show their art skills. Students dedicated their entire art work to martyrs of the November 26 terrorist attacks in Mumbai and emphasized this by creating a grand replica of Hotel Taj which was the centre of attraction for all the visitors to the art gallery.  One more special feature of the art gallery was the unique display of many invaluable archaeological and nuministic artifacts by Dr Roshan Bhaisare.  One person’s hard work and absolute dedication of two decades towards his hobby was showcased in this breathtaking collection of coins, currency notes and archeological specimens.

Stage performances started the same evening, gurgling with the grace, energy, zest, colors and styles in the fashion show, folk and western dance forms. The swirling melodies of Sargam and skits full of laughter followed. In these two days, students exhibited their creativity, talent and organizational skills to the fullest. The glamour of the show increased with a new look to the open air auditorium. Two greatly needed green rooms have been constructed beside the stage. The stage has been enlarged and the audience arena is now greener and more pleasant. The gathering gave way to the ‘FETE’ on 20 Feb 2009. The stalls run by students were fun to visit. The closing ceremony and prize distribution was followed by Lunch given by the KHS to the students.

The state level cultural festival ‘Spandan’ was organized by MUHS, Nashik at Nagpur this year on 21-24 Feb 2009. Our students participated and we won three gold medals (Western group song, debate and monoacting) and two bronze medals (for Indian classical vocal solo & Western vocal solo).

The cover theme ‘Aspire to excel’ was designed by Samuel Lalhruaizela. The edition contains the English section called ‘Fifteen minutes’ which outlines several outlandish activities which can be done in that span of time and a whacky survey. The Hindi section is called ‘Kalash‘and the Marathi section speaking of the yearning for freedom in adolescence is aptly titled ‘Swacchand’. The Clinical section, ‘Clinicochorea’ blends medicine and literature with ease. The magazine also showcases articles written in Avadhi, Maithili, Bhojpuri and Magahi.
