Associate Professor in Biophysics cum Medical Physicist

Dr. Bharati Mahindrakar Jain holds degree in M.Sc. Biophysics and M.Sc. Physics along with Postgraduate Diploma in Radiological Physics. She has been awarded the esteemed academic degree Ph.D. for her research on “Non-invasive hemodynamic profile in normal individuals of central India” by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.

She has been associated with Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram since April 2008 as Assistant Professor in Biophysics, thereby actively involved in teaching Biophysics to undergraduates as well as subject expert for nursing students. After acquiring additional qualification as Medical Physicist, she has been now serving the department as Assistant Professor in Biophysics cum Medical Physicist. Along with teaching post-graduate and nursing students, she has received training in basic course workshop for full time teaching faculty under NMC nodal centre for national faculty development programme. She is also a life member of Association of Medical Physicists of India (AMPI).

Since April 2022, department equipped with high end techniques and also introduced hyperthermia as a routine therapeutic modality. Therefore she is now working on quality assured hyperthermia modality by developing and evaluating tissue equivalent phantom to study temperature profile with 27.1 MHz capacitive heating during hyperthermia treatment. She also manages all patient demographics, planning and quality assurance tests which have a closer look on patient’s radiation dose delivery through sets of periodic clinical dosimetry checks.

She has completed 3 research projects as principal investigator and involved in 4 ongoing projects of the department of radiotherapy as co-investigator. She has published 4 research papers, presented several papers in conferences in various international and national reputations and participated in many conferences and workshops during her tenure.
