PV Bahulekar

Social Scientist

PV Bahulekar obtained his post-graduation in Sociology and English Literature from Nagpur University. He also received training in Health Education, Behavior Change Communication, Qualitative Research, Rural Development and Sanitation. 

He joined MGIMS in August 1971. At present he is working as a Social Scientist in the department of Community Medicine and as the Joint Director, Gandhi Memorial Leprosy Foundation, Wardha.

A Master trainer for Home Based Management of Young Infants and ASHA volunteers, he has also taught MBBS students, nursing students, paramedics, and community leaders for more than 15 years. His rich experience in working with communities and in villages has helped him understand the dynamics of rural society and design interventions for community development. He has worked in national and international field projects as project coordinator, investigator, co-investigator, monitor and a member of technical support team. He has planned and conducted several quantitative and qualitative surveys, rural health and development programs and various camps. His areas of interest are teaching community development and women empowerment.

A life member of IPHA, he has attended and presented papers in several national and international conferences. He has translated VHAI books “Panchayat Ke liye Swasthya Margdarshak Pustika”, "Champa ki Kahani"and “Hamari Chitti Aap Ke Naam” into Marathi.
