MGIMS wins the Biochemistry Quiz at GMC Yavatmal

The students of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences have yet again proved their credentials by bagging the first prize in Vidharbha level Intercollegiate Biochemistry Quiz held at Shri Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College, Yavatmal. on 16 March 2016, MBBS 1st Year students -  Ms Shambhavi Chowdhary and Ms Mehak Saini (2015) batch emerged as the champions of the quiz after beating GMC Nagpur and GMC Chandrapur as runners-up teams.

The Vidharbha level Intercollegiate Biochemistry Quiz is conducted annually under the aegis of Association of Clinical Biochemists of India, Vidharbha Chapter, and is being hosted by one of the Medical Colleges of this region, who bids for it. Other colleges to participate in the quiz were IGGMC-Nagpur, NKP Salve Medical College-Nagpur, Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences-Sawangi, GMC-Akola, Panjabrao Deshmukh Medical College-Amravati, and SVNGMC- Yavatmal

In the quiz, each college was represented by a team of two students selected by the respective college. The quiz consisted of multiple rounds like Direct questions round, Visual round, Clinical case study round, Multiple choice question rounds, Assertion and reason round, true false and rapid fire rounds.

The MGIMS team led and mentored by Dr K Goswami, Professor and Officer-In-Charge UG Teaching, Department of Biochemistry snapped all the questions and scored 95% of total marks. Dr Goswami said, “We are extremely delighted at the terrific performance made by our students.” Dr MVR Reddy, Head of Department of Biochemistry, overwhelmed at another big win, said “It has now become a habit for the representatives of 2015 batch to win quizzes!”Dr Ashwini Kamble also expressed her happiness for the winning team.
