PG Diploma in Maternal and Child Health (IGNOU)

Department of Community Medicine, MGIMS, Sewagram is a study Center for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for PG Diploma in Maternal and Child Health. Students who have completed their compulsory rotating internship before the beginning of the respective academic session are eligible for this course.  It is a one-year comprehensive package comprising of Reproductive Health, Child Health and Public Health components of MCH. This course is offered in July session every year.

Course Fee:  Rs. 27,600

Minimum Age:  No bar 

Maximum Age:  No bar 

Eligibility: 1) MBBS; 2) A student should have completed compulsory internship before January 1st of the respective academic session.

Programme Design: The PGDMCH programme consists of six courses representing three broad disciplines of conventional medical education system. Course 1 (MME-201), Course 2 (MME-202) and Course 3 (MME-203) represent the disciplines of Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) and Paediatrics respectively. The respective practical component of these three courses are given in the Course 4 (MMEL-201), Course 5 (MMEL-202) and Course 6 (MMEL-203).

The students will be compulsorily required to attend 28 days of contact sessions in five divided spells at their allotted study centre in addition to carrying out practical activities a tertiary care hospitals for 180 hours.

This course, which was earlier been offered in the July session, has been shifted to January session and the last date for admission for PG Diploma courses this year is 31 Jan 2018.  

The option of PGDMCH is currently not available on online admission page of IGNOU. However, applications may be sent offline to the IGNOU Regional Centre. For this purpose, you may procure the prospectus for 2018 January session from IGNOU Regional Centre at Nagpur.

Please also note that the candidates desirous of admission in PGDMCH course should deposit only the Registration Fee of Rs.300/- (latest registration fee to be confirmed) with the application form. Their selection will be determined by way of a merit list and they will be duly informed if they have been selected for admission to the course. Only selected candidates will be required to pay the Programme Fee within a stipulated date.
