Workshop on Stress management through Yoga conducted

Kasturba Health Society’s Arogyadham, Centre of Alternative Medicine, and Mahatma Gandhi Institute Of medical sciences, Sevagram Wardha had been an overwhelming host to a sublime Workshop on “Stress management through Yoga” in commemoration of International Yoga Day that is celebrated on the 21st of June each year. The workshop having commenced as the dignitaries stepped in, had been motivating thereof as the topic of interest was of supreme importance in today's era.  Dr. Nitin Gangane, who recently joined the MGIMS family as Dean of the institute delivered a hearty welcome address to the gathering. Dr. O.P. Gupta, Emeritus Professor and Senior Consultant from Dept. of Medicine, MGIMS presided over the function and emphasized on the relevance and importance of yoga in day to day life in his address.

Dr. Ruchi Kothari, Organizing Secretary of the workshop and Associate Professor in the Dept. of Physiology, MGIMS, gave a brief introduction of to the theme of the workshop, covering its what, why and how. She highlighted that objective of the workshop was amalgamating the management of stress encountered in life of each one of us with the rescuer Yoga in both feasible and fruitful way in the long run.

The workshop couldn't have been as interesting as it was if it was not for Dr. Hemant Bhargav the Guest Speaker for the day who is Senior Scientific Officer at NIMHANS Integrated Centre for Yoga, NIMHANS, Bangalore. He beautifully showcased the positive effects of Yoga in Stress Management through his spell binding presentation as well as a smooth and enjoyable practical session following the same. Dr. Ruchi and her dynamic team left no stone unturned to make this academic fiesta a ravishing success. A total of 50 delegates enrolled from all around Wardha and from different walks of life attended the workshop and tremendously rejoiced the practical session on guided relaxation techniques to mitigate stress. Response from the audience was quite more than what was expected. The workshop came to an end as Dr. Anuradha Khandekar, Joint co-ordinator, Arogydham who had played a pivotal role in the successful implementation and proceeding of this workshop, delivered the vote of thanks. Herbal tea and delicious Saatwik lunch arranged from Arogyadham added to the beauty of the whole bundle of ecstaticity.
