Grove of trees like Azadirachta indica (neem tree), Phyllanthus emblica (Indian gooseberry/awala), Millingtonia hortensis or Indian Cork tree (kawal neem/neem chameli), Pithecellobium dulce (manila tamarind), Milletia pinnata (karanj/Indian Beech tree), Cassia fistula(golden shower/Amaltas), ficus religiosa (pipal tree), Ficus benghalensis (vata/bargad/banyan tree) are planned to be put up across the institute, residential campus and its peripheral concerns.

“MGIMS shall plant around 1500 trees by this monsoon to contribute to the Maharashtra Forest Department’s target of 50 crore tree plantation drive by the end of this year”, informed Mrs AN Gangane, Chief Administrative Officer and Incharge Gardening section of the institute. “We are not only focusing on planting the trees, but would also ensure their survival”, she added.

“We must acknowledge everything that the Environment has given to us. It is time to stop taking our Mother Earth for granted, cease its damage and start taking care of it”, said Dr Garg urging people to act responsibly towards the environment.
