A Diagnostic cum Therapeutic Multispecialty Health camps was organized at Dr Sushila Nayar Multispecialty hospital Utawali, Dharni, Amravati on 16th September 2019. Chief guest Mrs. Aswati Dorje (IPS and Director Maharashtra Police Academy, Nashik), Guest of Honor Shri V Kale (Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dharni) and others accompanying them paid their respect to Late Dr Sushila Nayar by garlanding her bust. The Program started with traditional bhajan and blessings of almighty, Ba, Bapu and Badi Behenji (Dr Sushila Nayar) followed by welcome of chief guest and all other dignitaries.
Dr S Chhabra (Officer on Special Duty) welcomed everyone. She shared the hurdles in establishment of the multispecialty hospital in the tribal area of Melgaht and the support and help provided by the Government of Maharashtra, Health and Administration department of Amravati, Divisional commissioner, Collector, District Health Officers and Civil Surgeons. She also mentioned the support of Shri Dhirubhai (President, KHS) and staff KHS and MGIMS, Sevagram. She thanked the Amravati district’s Government administrative and health departments for their constant support and considering their request for constructing a bus stand near the hospital gate.
Chief guest Smt Aswati Dorje inaugurated the camp by lighting the lamp. In her address, chief guest stressed the need of understanding the problems of the communities of the region and the need to provide to their needs. She acknowledged the services of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram and appreciated the efforts taken by the institute in providing health services in such difficult area. She lauded the effort taken in organizing the number of health camps for rural people. Smt Dorje also shared some her fond memories associated with ‘Akanksha’ women and child welfare center run by Kasturba Health Society. She wished the camp a grand success.
Dr Chhabra felicitated the dignitaries. Certificates and scissors were given to the 24 successful trainers of stitching course under the Mission project supported by Jan Kalyan Trust Mumbai. Two sewing machines were also distributed.
Total 1089 patients (multispecialty care wise total 1636) took benefit of the camp. Different departments Medicine (400), 15, Psychiatry(15), Surgery (130), Obstetrics and Gynecology (180), Pediatrics (43), Ophthalmology (300), ENT (56), Dental (26), Orthopedics (120) participated in the camp. 35 patients were operated (13 Surgery + 4 ENT + 11 eye + 7 orthopedics patients). Patients of Surgery and ENT needing major surgeries and complicated cataract cases were referred to Kasturba Hospital Sewagram. Other minor and simple cases of surgery and cataract will be operated by December 2019. All the Gynecological cases will be operated at Dr Sushila Nayar Hospital itself. Dr Shruti , Senior Resident, OBGY proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Bhoomika compered the programme. Programme concluded with National Anthem.
Next camp will be in February 2020.
