On 9th January 2021, the Department of Psychiatry, MGIMS Sewagram celebrated the IPS Foundation day in the department. The theme of the celebration was “Mental Health Matters”.
A webinar on the theme ‘Mental Health Matters’ was conducted in the department. Dr KK Mishra (Treasurer, IPS and Head of Department of Psychiatry) welcomed and introduced the chief guest, guest of honour and other dignitaries who attended the webinar. Dr Priyanka Yadav was the moderator of the webinar.
Dr P K Dalal (President, IPS) was the Chief Guest of the function. He gave an introductory talk on the theme and felicitated Dr KK Mishra and the department for organising the webinar. Dr Gautam Saha (President elect, IPS), Dr TSS Rao (General Secretary, IPS), Dr OP Singh (Editor, Indian Journal of Psychiatry), Dr Laxmikant Rathi (President, IPS West Zonal Branch), Dr Arun Marwale (President elect, IPS West Zonal Branch), Dr Dhananjay Ashturkar (Secretary IPS West Zonal Branch) gave words of felicitation and appreciation.
Dr Nitin Gangane (Dean, MGIMS, Sewagram) was present on the occasion and felicitated and congratulated the department, assuring support and assistance for all future endeavours. Dr SP Kalantri (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Sewagram) attended the webinar.
Professor Dr PB Behere (Ex Vice Chancellor, DY Patil University, Kolhapur and Director Professor, Psychiatry Department JNMC, Sawangi) was the guest of honour. Dean Dr Gangane felicitated Dr Behere. Following this Prof. Behere gave a presentation on the Development of Psychiatric care and De-addiction centre at MGIMS Sewagram. He also felicitated the department for organising this webinar. Dr. Sally John thanked chief guest, guest of honour, all the dignitaries and the department.
