Divisional Commissioner Nagpur visits Kasturba Hospital

On July 23, 2021, Divisional Commissioner of division Nagpur - Mrs Prajakta Verma and Collector Wardha - Mrs Prerna Deshbhratar visited Kasturba Hospital Sevagram to check its preparedness for Covid-19. Civil Surgeon Dr Sachin Tadas, Sub Divisional Officer Mr Suresh Bagale, Chief Administrative Officer Dr Nitin Ombase and District Information Officer Mrs Manisha Sawale were also present during the visit. Dr BS Garg (Secretary Kasturba Health Society) and Dr SP Kalantri (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital) welcomed the dignitaries with their traditional Sutgundi and briefed them about the history and functioning of the hospital. 

On her first visit to Wardha after she recently took over as the Divisional Commissioner of Nagpur division, Mrs Prajakta Verma inspected Kasturba Hospital’s newly installed oxygen generator plant that was funded by Navya-Tata Memorial Centre-National Cancer Grid. She also visited the liquid medical oxygen plant of the hospital that stores oxygen equivalent to 2300 cylinders.

Dr Kalantri explained how the hospital is efficiently providing the low cost high-value services to Covid patients. “Now that we have an on-site oxygen generator and a liquid oxygen unit, we hope to serve our critically ill patients without worrying for oxygen shortage”, added Dr Kalantri.

Dr Garg explained how community engagement, health assurance and hospital information system have helped hospital provide pro-people and efficient healthcare.

Mrs Verma and Mrs Deshbhratar were happy to see the efforts taken by the hospital and its staff in caring for the Covid patients. They praised the hospital for its commitment towards the community healthcare.
