ICICI Foundation, the philanthropic arm of ICICI Group, donated three fully-equipped ambulances and two state-of-the-art dialysis machines to Kasturba Health Society’s Kasturba Hospital on 07 April 2023 as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support healthcare infrastructure in the community. Shri Ramesh Kolpe (Tehsildar, Wardha District, Govt of Maharashtra), Shri PL Tapadiya (Vice-President, Kasturba Health Society), Dr BS Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society), Dr AK Shukla (Dean, MGIMS), Dr Poonam Varma (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital), Mrs Monica Archarya (Zonal Head, ICICI Foundations) and her team, Dr S Chhabra (Officer on Special Duty, Dr Sushila Nayar Hospital, Dharni), Dr Jyoti Jain (Head of Medicine), Dr VB Shivkumar (Officer-In-Charge, Blood bank), Mrs Neeta Shetye (Matron, Kasturba Hospital), faculty, nurses and hospital staff were present during the inauguration. `

The hospital authorities received three vehicles, including a cardiac ambulance and a mobile blood collection and transportation van from ICICI Foundation in a ceremony held today. “The fully equipped and composite mobile blood collection and transportation van shall enable the hospital’s blood bank to collect and transport blood safely from various locations to the hospital”, informed Dr AK Shukla. Two ambulances and two dialysis machines were also donated to support medical care in the community. One ambulance, specifically designed for cardiac patients, aims to provide critical support during their golden hours. The other ambulance was donated to Dr. Sushila Nayar Hospital in Dharni, which provides its healthcare services to the resource-limited region of Melghat. In addition, the hospital received two dialysis machines to assist patients suffering from kidney-related ailments.

The hospital management expressed their gratitude for the donation and said that the ambulances would be put to good use in serving the community. "We are thankful to ICICI Foundation for their generous donation. This will go a long way in helping us provide better healthcare services to our patients," said Shri Tapadiya.

During the ceremony, Shri Ramesh Kolpe acknowledged the efforts of Kasturba Hospital during Covid-19, saying "The hospital provided exemplary medical services to patients during the pandemic." Dr. Sushila Nayar Hospital at Dharni was also acknowledged for its contribution to providing quality healthcare services to the community.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Acharya from ICICI Foundation said, "We are delighted to support the healthcare infrastructure in the city through this donation. We hope that these ambulances and dialysis machines will help the hospital provide timely and efficient medical assistance to those in need." She also assured the hospital of future assistance.

“We are grateful for this contribution and look forward to utilizing these resources to provide better healthcare services to our patients," said Dr Poonam Varma Shivkumar.
