Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) proudly announces the exceptional performances of its undergraduate students at the prestigious MSNCON PLEXUS 2024, held on 29th and 30th June 2024 at IMA Hall, Nagpur. This event, organized by IMA Maharashtra and IMA-MSN (Medical Students' Network, Maharashtra), showcased a variety of competitions where MGIMS undergraduate students demonstrated remarkable talent and academic excellence.
Oral Paper Presentation
Ms. Rohini Chettiar (UG-2020) secured 2nd position in the oral paper presentation category. Her research, titled “Critical appraisal of requisition forms of cytopathology laboratory at a rural tertiary care hospital in Central India,” was one of the eight finalists selected from over 50 applicants. Rohini's outstanding presentation earned her a medal and certificate. Her research was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Abhay Deshmukh, Associate Professor. Additionally, Ms. Sumedha Gupta (UG-2021) and Ms. Ansu Sharma (UG-2021) were also shortlisted as finalists and presented clinical cases under the mentorship of faculty members from the Pathology department.
Genesis: The Medical Hackathon
Mr Dipanshu Jindal (UG-2020) was a part of the winning team in Genesis: The Medical Hackathon. The competition, which included medical and engineering students, focused on innovative solutions for medical problems. Dipanshu was among 16 selected participants, which included 12 medical and 4 engineering students. His team tackled Biomedical Waste Management and proposed solutions like a Shredder plus steam sterilizer, automatic glove dispenser, and refillable fluid bottles. Their innovative approach secured them the first place in the Hackathon.
Case Conundrums
Ms. Sejal Bisen (UG-2022) achieved 2nd position in the Case Conundrums category. She presented a case on tuberous sclerosis complex in an 8-month-old male, impressing the judges with her detailed analysis and presentation. Sejal's work was guided by Dr. Payal Meshram whose mentorship played a crucial role in her success.
The Synapse Showdown Quiz
MGIMS students excelled in "The Synapse Showdown" quiz, which covered six preclinical subjects: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, and microbiology. MGIMS teams secured the top two positions among 17 participating teams from various medical colleges. Shaun Pereira (UG-2022) and Atharva Kotgirwar (UG-2022) emerged as the winners of the quiz, and Anshu Ranjan (UG-2021) and Mitali Joshi (UG-2023) were the runners-up. Nikish Kumar (UG-2021) was commended for his leadership as the Head of the Quiz Committee and his meticulous planning and organization of the event earned him an award and high praise.
