Various events celebrated at Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra 

 

Guest visit, Awareness program and events celebratedAakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra under the aegis of Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram organized and celebrated series of events to arrange adoption awareness program and various in house events as per government guidelines under the guidance of Dr. B. S. Garg, Secretary, Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram and Dr. Poonam Verma Shivkumar, Chief executive officer, Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra and Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital.

Visit of Shri Rahul Kardile, District collector, Wardha:

On May 9th 2024, Hon Shri Rahul Kardile, District collector, Wardha visited and very happy to see Aakanksha, a not-for-profit, residential adoption center run by Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram.

He observed that adoption involves a lifelong commitment to safeguard the interests of the child as well as the families concerned, the center follows definite procedures. These are regulated and monitored by the State authorities (Woman and Child Welfare Department, Wardha, Government of Maharashtra) and the judiciary.

Esteemed dignitaries such as Shri P. L. Tapdiya (President, Kasturba Health Society), Dr. B. S. Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society), Dr. A. K. Shukla, (Dean, MGIMS), Dr. Poonam Shivkumar (Chief executive officer, Aakanksha and Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital) and other officials were present on the day.

Tree plantation drive at Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra:

With the theme of Prime Minister’s Ek ped maa ke naam, Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra organized a tree plantation drive at open space behind Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra on July 15th 2024. 

The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr B. S. Garg, Secretary, Kasturba Health Society, Sevagram, Dr Poonam Verma Shivkumar, Chief Executive Officer of the Center as well as Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Sevagram, Shri Sunil Mesre, District Women and Child Development Officer, Wardha, Officers of DCPU Wardha Mrs. Madhuri Bhoyer, Vaishali Miskin, Mahesh Kamdi, and Dr. Bharati Mahindrakar–Jain, Associate Professor, MGIMS, Ms. Sandhya Mishra, Superintendent, of Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra.

As we know that “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; one who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and the one who plants the kindness gather love: Plant trees and gather love”. With this theme, kids Chetan and Om, also planted the trees and very happy and enthusiastic during this occasion. Variety of herbal trees including ashoka, amla and amaltas were planted near Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra.

Hoisting of national flag at child care institutions (CCIs) under Har ghar tiranga campaign

As per directions from under secretary, Govt. of India, to hoist the national flag at child care institutions (CCIs), under Har ghar tiranga campaign. On August, 14th 2024, our national tricolor flag was hoisted at Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra, Sevagram by the hands of kids Om and Chetan. All staff members of Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra were present for the event.

The activities like making beautiful rangoli; poem recitation which promotes the feeling of patriotism was organized on the day. The program was concluded with a national anthem symbolizing and evoking eulogies of history and traditions of our nation with enthusiastic kids saying our slogan of “Bharat mata ki jay”. They also sang the song of Nanha munha rahi hu in this event.

Adoption awareness program at Pavnar:

On August 22nd 2024, Aakanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra, Sevagram in collaboration with District Women and Child Development and District child protection unit, Wardha arranged an Adoption awareness program at Pavnar. The program was held in Chintamani Devasthan Hall at Pavnar.

In this program, Ms. Sandhya Mishra, Superintendent, Akanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra was given detailed information about adoption law and unwanted motherhood while Mr. Mahesh Kamdi, Protection officer (NIC), District child protection unit gave detailed information about Mahila Bal Vikas Yojana and also made people aware to take benefit from the scheme. Dr. Bharati Mahindrakar-Jain, Associate Professor, MGIMS provided the valuable insights on personal health concerns, radiation treatment related myths and understanding the treatment procedures of the patients at Kasturba hospital. The forum is then open for discussing all related queries of the men and women from the community of Pavnar. Mrs. Nagarle, Mr Kishor Meher and members of the self-help group, village panchayat as well as low-income group and the village youth group were participated in this event.

Rakshabandhan and Gokulastami celebration:

Traditional festivals Raksha Bandhan and Golkulastami celebrated at Akanksha Shishu Kalyan Kendra and in Kasturba Vidya Mandir, Sevagram.  On these occasions, both kids Om and Chetan were traditional dressed and celebrated and enjoyed these festivals. On Gokulastami they enjoyed the attire of Lord balshrikrushna.
