The department acquired independent status on 16 August 1981, and since then it has developed into an important specialty providing diagnostic, research and teaching facilities in Microbiology.
Orthopedic surgeons in the department perform a wide spectrum of diagnostic procedures and operations. The department has recently introduced knee and hip joint replacement surgery, arthroscopy and spine surgery at very low costs.
The ENT department offers routine diagnostic services; runs specialty Clinics (allergy, tumor, audiology and vertigo) and has facilities for evaluation and treatment of speech disorders.
The Department of Pathology supports the common vision of MGIMS to provide accessible, affordable and appropriate health care to the rural population and to train young doctors in the community oriented approach towards medical care.
