Smita Singh

Dr Smita Singh obtained her MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi in 1989, and postgraduation (MS Ophthalmology) from Safdarjung hospital New Delhi in 1994. She subsequently obtained DNB (Ophthalmology) in 1994. She joined as a lecturer at MGIMS in 1994 and has been working at MGIMS since.

Interested in the field of medical education, she did he Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) fellowship from GSMC Regional Institute, Mumbai in 2007. She is associated with FAIMER as national faculty for its teachers training program at GSMC Regional Institute, Mumbai since 2009. Officer in Charge of the MGIMS library, she is also honorary faculty member of the medical education unit of MGIMS and is interested in interactive teaching and promoting e-learning in UG curriculum at MGIMS. She enjoys teaching and working with students.

Trained in Ocular microsurgery, intraocular lens implantation and phacoemulsification, Dr Smita has clinical as well as research interest in glaucoma. She regularly conducts eye camps in rural and outreach areas and also is a member of the team that organizes vision screening programs in schools of Wardha District.
