Anupama Gupta

Director Professor & Head

An alumnus of Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior (MP), Dr Anupama obtained MD (Pathology) in 1995 and soon joined MGIMS as a lecturer. Trained in Oncopathology at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and keenly interested in Cytopathology, she was instrumental in establishing a flowcytometry laboratory in her department.

She did her NTTC training at JIPMER, Puducherry. As an Officer in charge of undergraduate teaching she introduced many innovations in education like OSCE, structured viva, student and teacher feedback, item analysis and question bank formation. A GSMC-FAIMER regional fellowship awardee for leadership in medical education, currently she is working on small group learning strategies in theory class setting. As a core member of MGIMS Medical Education Unit, she trains faculty and PG students and as a course director of basic training workshops and executive member of MCI regional nodal center for national level, she helps medical faculty acquire skills in teaching. She is on the editorial board of SEVAMED and a quarterly journal ‘Strikaal’ and reviews manuscripts submitted to J MGIMS.

Dr Anupama was the officer in charge of cultural activities at MGIMS for six years. She is President of ‘The marginalized’, an NGO working for women and marginalized communities. Experienced in English-Hindi translations, she is also a resource person for workshops on communication skills in Hindi language organized by Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti and BSNL, Wardha and for personality development workshops at Aarogyadham, Sevagram. A known figure in literary circles in Wardha, she regularly writes poems, stories and articles in national Hindi magazines and newspapers.
