Atul Tayade

Director - Professor & Head

Dr Atul Tayade, MD (Radio diagnosis), did his under graduate and post graduate studies from Government Medical College, Nagpur. After obtaining MD in 1988, he joined his mother institute as a lecturer. In 1995, he was promoted as Associate Professor – he subsequently worked in Grant Medical College, Mumbai; Government Medical College, Nagpur and Government Medical College, Aurangabad. He was promoted as Professor in 2001 and led the department of Radiology at Aurangabad.

He moved to MGIMS in September 2002, and has been heading the department of Radio diagnosis since. He played a major role in uplifting the department: during his tenure, imaging modalities such as Color Doppler, MRI, Mammography and Digital Subtraction Angiography were installed and the department got recognized by MCI.  Recipient of training in MRI from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he has a rich experience in diagnostic angiography and urinary and hepatobiloiary radiological interventions.

Between 2009-11, he was Consultant Radiologist at Emirates Hospital, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates and also worked as Professor in Radiology, at Gulf Medical College Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

A passionate teacher, he has mentored many postgraduates. He has been examiner in several universities in Maharashtra, and has also served as a subject expert of Diplomat of National Board and staff selection committee of MUHS, Nashik. He also inspected various institutes for accreditation to the MUHS.

Vice President of Vidarbha Chapter of Maharashtra State Branch of Indian Radiological Association, he is presently is district representative of Geriatric Society of India, Vidarbha Chapter. He has published a number of papers in national and international journals, has edited a book on “Aids to remember in Obstetrics and Gynecology” and has delivered numerous talks at national and international forums. As a co-investigator in the ICMR study, he read 55,000 mass miniature radiographs for estimating the prevalence of tuberculosis in Wardha district.
