VB Shivkumar

Dr VB Shivkumar graduated and obtained MD from MLN Medical college, Allahabad. During his graduation, he received Paper of Honor in Pharmacology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He joined the department of Pathology at MGIMS  in 1990. He left for for Saudi Arabia and worked as consultant pathologist in a large hospital in Riyadh till 1998 and rejoined MGIMS soon after.

Dr Shivkumar has published 16 articles, most of them in peer-reviewed inernational journals. He has received training in Biotechnology from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh and has also received a fellowship for training in florescent  microscopy at Institute of Kidney Diseases Ahmadabad. He is a co-investigator in three research projects, including one on Population based Cancer Registry of Wardha District. His areas of interest are Cytopathology and Nutritional Anemia. 

Dr Shivkumar has keen interest in adventure sports and trekking and has been a member of many expeditions, a passion he continues to cultivate in addition to shouldering  profesional responsibilities and administrative tasks -  he is also a warden of JN Boy's hostel at MGIMS.
