On 3-4 September 2022, the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sevagram are organizing a National CME cum Workshop on Approach to Dermatopathology on its campus. The two-day CME entails several scientific sessions and hands-on training for the participants. A total of 56 delegates from across the country are participating in the CME.
In the inaugural ceremony, chief guest Dr BS Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society), Dr NM Gangane (Dean, MGIMS), Dr Sumit Kar (Head of Dermatology, MGIMS) and Dr Anupama Gupta (Head of Pathology and Organizing Secretary of the CME) lighted the lamp, and garlanded the portraits of Bapu, Ba and Bade Behenji. The dignitaries felicitated the guest speakers –Dr Poonam Elhence (Additional Professor of Pathology, AIIMS, Jodhpur), Dr Shweta Grover, Dr Suniti Mishra (Consultant Pathologist at Sparsh Hospital, Bangalore), and Dr Shailaja Prabhala (Additional Professor of Pathology, AIIMS, Hyderabad).
“Dermatology is a glamourous field. For proper clinical diagnosis, Dermatology and Pathology specialties should learn from each other”, said Dr Garg. He also emphasized on the importance of revisiting paramedical subjects as a part of continuous medical education.
Dr NM Gangane (Dean, MGIMS), in his welcome address, highlighted the importance of Dermatopathology in today’s time. “Dermatopathology is not as straightforward as it seems to be. Accurate clinical information and pathological interpretation are crucial in making appropriate diagnostic decisions in the field of Dermatology”, Dr Gangane said.
“Clinicians and pathologists work together for the best patient care,” said Dr Anupama Gupta (Organizing Secretary of the CME and Head of Pathology, MGIMS) while proposing the vote of thanks. She thanked everyone involved in the CME for their contribution to the smooth facilitation of the CME cum workshop.
