NAAC Team conducted a comprehensive evaluation at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS), Sevagram on 20 and 21 June 2023. The esteemed National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently concluded a thorough assessment at MGIMS. The visit, undertaken by a dedicated team of experts, aimed to evaluate the college's academic standards, infrastructure, research activities, and overall performance.
Led by Dr PV Vijayaraghvan (Chairperson NAAC Peer team and Former Vice Chancellor at Sri Ramachandra University, chennai) along with Dr G Rajitha and Dr Lata Mullur - Members NAAC peer team visited MGIMS and diligently examined every aspect of the institute. The comprehensive evaluation encompassed various dimensions of the institution, including curriculum design, faculty expertise, student support mechanisms, governance, and community engagement.
“Training only 100 students is not enough. Every medical aspirant in the country needs this kind of education”, said Dr Vijayaraghvan. The NAAC team was impressed by the commitment to excellence showcased by MGIMS, especially the unique community oriented teaching-learning curriculum. The college's emphasis on providing quality education and fostering a nurturing environment for students left a lasting impression on the visiting experts. During their visit, the team interacted with faculty members, students, parents and administrative staff, gaining valuable insights into the institution's strengths and areas for improvement.
“MGIMS is known for its illustrious history and steadfast dedication to healthcare education. MGIMS is known for continuously raising the bar in education, nurturing skilled medical professionals, and contributing to the overall well-being of the community ”, said Dr AK Shukla (Dean, MGIMS). He emphasised the college's commitment to implementing the recommendations put forth by the experts, ensuring continuous improvement in all aspects of medical education and research.
Shri Dhirubhai Mehta ( President, Kasturba Health Society), expressed gratitude to the NAAC team for their meticulous evaluation and valuable suggestions. “The assessment outcomes will provide valuable feedback and recommendations to MGIMS Medical College, enabling further enhancement of its educational offerings and overall institutional development”, Shri Mehta said.
“The NAAC's visit serves as an affirmation of the college's pursuit of excellence and recognition of its contributions to medical education”, said Dr Anshu (Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, MGIMS). She acknowledged the significant contribution of students, faculty, non-teaching staff and management for being a part of this huge exercise.
