Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) marked the 77th Independence Day with a grand celebration on its campus. The event was graced by Shri PL Tapadiya (Vice-President, Kasturba Health Society), Dr AK Shukla (Dean, MGIMS), Dr Poonam Shivkumar (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital), Dr Ramesh Pandey (Deputy Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital) and other disnitaries. The ceremony witnessed the soaring of the tricolor as Ms. Prachi Nikose, the distinguished topper of the MBBS 2018 batch unfurled the Tiranga. Faculty, staff, and students from MGIMS, Kasturba Nursing College, and Kasturba Vidya Mandir gathered at the campus's playground to partake in the celebrations. The atmosphere was charged with patriotic zeal, as the resounding strains of the national anthem and a spirited parade resonated through the surroundings.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Shri PL Tapadiya remarked, "It is the diversity of culture, language and beliefs that has given birth to institutions like MGIMS, where excellence and compassion converge. Let us sow the seeds of change and nurture healthier lives. Whether it’s the underprivileged community or the missing middle, MGIMS believes that health is not a privilege but a right for all. Let this flag remind us that we are the custodians of health and hope."
The programme ended with National Anthem.
To mark this momentous occasion, the institute also participated in ‘HAR GHAR TIRANGA’ campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and encouraged its employees to hoist National Flag in their homes.
