The Department of Psychiatry at MGIMS organized an Intercollegiate Psychiatry Quiz, in collaboration with the Vidarbha Psychiatric Association on September 9, 2023, at Sarojini Naidu Hall, MGIMS from 2 pm to 5 pm. The event brought together medical colleges from across the region to showcase their knowledge and enthusiasm in the field of Psychiatry. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, General Secretary of the Vidarbha Psychiatric Association, who offered words of encouragement to the participants. Dr. Sally John, Associate Professor in Psychiatry at MGIMS, served as the Organizing Secretary, ensuring the smooth execution of the event. The Quiz Masters for the competition were Dr. Mosam Phirke, a Consultant Psychiatrist in Nagpur, and Dr. Pranjalee Bhagat, an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at GMC Yavatmal.
A total of seven medical colleges from the region enthusiastically participated in the event. These institutions included AIIMS Nagpur, GMC Nagpur, GMC Chandrapur, GMC Yavatmal, MGIMS Sevagram, JNMC Sawangi Meghe, and NKPSIMS Nagpur. After a thrilling and closely contested quiz, Chirag Kadwe and Aditya Dokwal from GMC Nagpur emerged as the winners of the Intercollegiate Psychiatry Quiz. Keerthika K. and Tushar Pawar from AIIMS Nagpur secured the position of the 1st runner-up, and Vidhi Motlani and Sushrut Bose from JNMC Sawangi took home the 2nd runner-up title. These teams displayed exceptional knowledge and teamwork, and their dedication to psychiatry was commendable.
The event not only celebrated the spirit of healthy competition but also fostered collaboration and teamwork among medical students.
